UWC:

  • Our Facebook was recently taken down in connection to one of our Feminist Lunch Series Talks. We have re-established our selves on Facebook as The University Women's Centre so make sure to follow and like our page to keep up with any updates or events.

Others:

  • The Clinic 554 Clinic family practice in Fredericton, NB, once devoted to practicing “sex-positive, gender-celebratory, anti-racist, feminist and patient-driven healthcare is now closed as of September 31, 2020.   • Lift: The Bra Project started of as an idea, and now the Fredericton chapter has several drop off locations for all types of bra donations. Drop off your donations at Purrfect Cup Cat Cafe and My Closet Consignment. Learn more about the project here.

  • The Black Lives Matter in New Brunswick Education Project is a collaborative project between UNB, STU, and Black Lives Matter: Fredericton to educate and provide resources about Black histories. Learn more about the project here.

  • Don’t forget to attend the next talk in our Feminist Lunch Series, Approaching Lesbian Legal History with Karen Pearlston from the UNB Faculty of Law on February 24, 2021. The link to our Facebook event page is here.

  • Black Lives Matter: New Brunswick is having a series of webinars for Black History Month, starting February 17. Register for the series with blmnewbrunswick@gmail.com and follow the event here.

  • Purchase a copy of the riveting book The Blacks in New Brunswick, written originally in (1972) by Dr. William Spray, former faculty member at STU, now - with a forward and introduction by Thandiwe McCarthy and Dr. Funké Aladejebi. Contact giving@stu.ca for more information about the book.

  • On February 23, the NB Media Co-op is partnering with SANB to host a panel on the Far-Right in New Brunswick. With research presented by UNB MA students and Husoni Raymond from Black Lives Matter: Fredericton as one of the panelists, it will be an interesting event. Follow the event here.

Mission Statement

The University Women’s Centre is a safe space on campus that is open to all members of the UNB, STU, and NBCC community. Our room is located in SUB Rm 129 and we are a resource on campus that provides information on safe sex, sexual health, safe injections, social and education programs, women’s shelters, and more. Additionally, we are stocked year-round with condoms and menstrual products.

Our Faves

  • Promising Young Woman - Rated R for strong violence including sexual assault, language throughout, some sexual material and drug use. Find out more about the movie here.

  • Your Angry Neighborhood Feminist is a podcast that looks at today’s issues and current events through an intersectional feminist perspective. The episodes range from “Forgotten Feminist Faves” to “Problematic Tropes” to “What’s in the News,” encouraging you to think critically about the world around you! Find the podcast here.
